UNLIGHT ORDER - Through The Gates Of Torment MCD 2007 (TEMPLE OF DARKNESS Recs.)

UNLIGHT ORDER
„At The Gates Of Torment” MCD 2006
|TEMPLE OF DARKNESS Rec.|
When I first read in the booklet that „Pure Swedish Black Metal” I didn’t really know what to expect from this 4-piece horde, I have learned that nowadays such definitions have lost their real meaning and I have heared this style-containment at least a 1000 times. But, after listening to these 3 songs (plues intro/outro) I wasn’t disappointed at all, moreover I really dig this MDC! This time we can say that calling this music pure Swedish Black Metal is the best way to describe UNLIGHT ORDER’s dark tunes. After the great intro („Vault OF Thy Mind”) the members don’t hesitate and begin with the title songs, which is also the best track from the whole material, it shows everything what we can expect from this horde. The only problem which bothers me is that while the intro had a great echoing and strong sound, till then I had to turn up the volume really high to hear their real songs clearly! Now this is a negative point, however, I was able to listen to it and that is what counts! So back to the music, UNLIGHT ORDER follows more the Scandinavian traditions of Black Metal, with cold riffs plus with a miserable atmosphere. At the slowdowns I had visions about similarities with their countrymates WATAIN, these creatures created a similar misanthropic and painful feeling which is proper for the whole material but cope over more by the doomy sections of this unholy music! The faster tempos couldn’t really catch my attention, it shows how technically skilled the members are but that’s all, nothing else. I think UNLIGHT ORDER should rather concentrate ont he mentioned parts, and try to make a stronger sound next time and then they would be able to come up with a really killer release, till then, here we have this, or look for the horde’s earlier materials, perhaps those are stronger…
